353.01 DEFINITIONS.
   The following words and phrases when used in this chapter shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section.
   (a)    "Individual parking space" means a portion of the paved surface of sufficient length and depth from the sidewalk curb to accommodate a vehicle to be parked as shall be specified and marked off by the Director of Public Safety.
   (b)    "Parking meter" means a device or devices which shall indicate thereon the length of time during which a vehicle may be parked in a particular place, which shall have as a part thereof a receptacle or chamber for receiving and storing coins of United States money or place in which money may be deposited.
   The parking meter may also contain a timing mechanism to indicate the passage of the interval of time during which parking is permissible and may be constructed to display an appropriate signal when the aforementioned interval of time shall have elapsed. The device or devices shall display thereon brief instructions as to their operation.
