147.01 COMPOSITION.

(a) There shall be a Fire Chief and one Assistant Fire Chief. The Fire Department shall further consist of three captains, three lieutenants and up to eleven firefighter drivers, all of whom shall be full-time employees and such temporary firemen as the Chief or other officer in charge at any fire or emergency may summon to the aid of the Department in such emergencies.

(b) The Fire Chief may appoint a Secretary of Fire who shall be the executive officer such appointment shall be only for such time as there exists a vacancy in the position of Assistant Fire Chief and shall terminate upon the appointment of an Assistant Fire Chief. The executive officer shall fulfill those duties of Secretary of Fire as imposed by general law and such other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief.

(c) With the exception of the positions of Chief and Assistant Fire Chief, all promotions and eligibility within the Fire Department will be specified by state law.
