145.11 TRANSFERS.
   (a)   The Police Department may accept for original appointments as patrol officers transfer applicants possessing a minimum of three (3) years prior, acceptable full-time service as a law enforcement officer with another law enforcement agency and who have successfully completed a course of training as prescribed by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council, upon such terms and conditions as may be determined by the Director of Public Safety and Service.
   (b)   Transfer applicants shall successfully complete all examinations and physical fitness tests required of non-transfer applicants. Upon hire, such transfer officers shall receive credit for prior service with another law enforcement agency for the purpose of determining years of service for accruing vacation leave and may be compensated at a higher starting rate than non-transfer applicants.
   (c)   For the purposes of this section the term “law enforcement officer” means a sheriff, deputy sheriff, constable, police officer of a township or joint police district, marshal, deputy marshal, municipal police officer, member of a police force employed by a metropolitan housing authority under division (D) of section 3735.31 of the Ohio Revised Code, or state highway patrol trooper.
   (d)   For the purposes of this section the term “law enforcement agency” means a county sheriff’s department, a township or joint police district, a municipal police department, a municipal housing authority police force organized under section 3735.31 of the Ohio Revised Code, or a Village police department employing a marshal or deputy marshal under section 737.15 of the Ohio Revised Code.
