721.06 DRIVER’S LICENSE; FEE AND QUALIFICATIONS.
(a) Application for a Taxicab Driver License shall be made through the Office of the Director upon such forms and containing such information as directed by that Office. The Director shall charge an application fee.
(b) The application shall be accompanied by a criminal background check, paid for by the Applicant, upon such form as determined by the Director.
(c) A Taxicab Driver License shall be issued when, upon review of the application and
background check, the Director determines all of the following:
(1) The applicant is at least twenty-one years of age.
(2) The applicant possess a current, valid operator license issued by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
(3) The applicant has not been convicted of any theft offense, offense of violence or a violation of any offense under Chapter 2907 of the Ohio Revised Code or equivalent offense under any municipal ordinance or law of another state within ten (10) years of the date of application.
(d) A Taxicab Driver Licensed shall be valid for one (1) year, subject to renewal or revocation. A License shall be revoked or not renewed by the Director where the holder of the License is no longer eligible for a License or has failed to comply with the following rules:
(1) Drivers shall not solicit, procure or give information in regard to or take any passenger to any person for the purpose of prostitution.
(2) Drivers shall not collect, demand, or receive any compensation in any amount greater than agreed upon at the commencement of any taxi service.
(3) Drivers shall comply with all City and State laws and ordinances including traffic rules and regulations.
(4) Drivers while on duty shall not use or be in possession of alcoholic beverages or drugs of abuse for their personal use and shall not enter any bar or cocktail parlor except for the purpose of announcing arrival to a prospective passenger. (Ord. 2017-028. Passed 10-22-17.)
