721.01 DEFINITIONS.

   For purposes of this chapter, the following words shall have the meanings indicated below:

   (a)   “Taxicab" means a vehicle for hire, for which public patronage is solicited upon the streets; and any motor vehicle carrying passengers for hire.

   (b)   "Limousine" means a motor vehicle that is designed to carry fewer than nine passengers and is operated for hire on an hourly basis pursuant to a prearranged contract for the transportation of passengers on public roads and highways along a route under the control of the person hiring the vehicle and not over a defined and regular route. "Prearranged contract" means an agreement, made in advance of boarding, to provide transportation from a specific location in a limousine at a fixed rate per hour or trip. "Limousine" does not include any vehicle that is used exclusively in the business of funeral directing. (Ord. 96-8. Passed 3-5-96.)

   (c)   "Director" means the Safety/Service Director of the City of Norwalk, Ohio.

   (d)   "City" means the City of Norwalk, Ohio.
