371.13 ELECTRIC SCOOTERS.
(a) Electric scooters that have a manufacturer’s average top speed of 15 miles per hour or less shall be treated as bicycles for the purposes of this Traffic Code.
(b) All regulations, including applicable penalties, contained in this Traffic Code which apply to riding, parking or otherwise operating a bicycle shall apply to electric scooters that meet the qualifications of subsection (a) above, further provided that electric scooters shall not be operated on Main Street or the sidewalks along Main Street west from Milan Avenue to the eastern edge at Church Street.
(c) Any motorized scooter that is not powered by electricity or which has a manufacturer’s listed top speed in excess of 15 miles per hour shall be treated as a motorcycle for purposes of this Traffic Code.
(d) All regulations, including applicable penalties, contained in this Traffic Code which apply to riding, parking, or otherwise operating a motorcycle shall apply to motorized scooters that are included in subsection (c) above.
