901.01 PERMIT APPLICATION AND INSURANCE.

   Whenever any person, except those employed under and by the direction of Council or the Director of Public Service and Safety, shall desire to break into any street, lane, alley or any public place for the purpose of making connections with any gas or water pipe or with any sewer, or for any other purpose, such person shall make application to the Director for a permit to do so. The application must be accompanied by proof that the applicant maintains a general liability insurance policy to cover such work up to a minimum amount of $500,000. The Director may grant such permit if, in his opinion, the same is proper and necessary.
