521.14 RODENT INFESTED PREMISES; CONTROL AND NOTICE.
   (a)   As used herein "rodent" means any mouse, rat, or other animal that falls within that biological category. For the purpose of this section, however, the term shall except certain animals in the category of chinchillas, etc., that are kept as furbearers, pets or for clinical and/or research purposes, provided they are kept confined in a manner satisfactory to the Health Officer.
 
   (b)   No owner, tenant, lessee or occupant of any premises shall maintain such premises in a vermin or rodent infested condition, or permit any premises to become so infested. Such infested premises are hereby declared a nuisance.
 
   (c)   It shall be the duty of the Health Officer to cause an inspection of any premises he has good reason to believe is not in rodent proof condition, or which he has good reason to believe is or may become infested with vermin or rodents. For such purpose, he or his authorized representative is permitted to enter upon such premises at all reasonable times. If such premises is found to be so infested or likely to become so infested, the Health Officer shall cause a notice thereof to be served upon the owner, tenant, lessee or occupant of such premises of its condition and what is required to correct such conditions. Such notice may be served by sending the same in a postpaid envelope properly addressed by certified mail. Failure to comply with the terms of such notice within ten days after receipt shall constitute a minor misdemeanor.
