§ 2. ASSISTANT CITY CLERK.
   (A)   Code number. 5002.
   (B)   Class title. Assistant City Clerk.
   (C)   Characteristics of the class. Under general administrative supervision, assists the City Clerk in the collection and recording of taxes and other receipts; assists in performing clerical work for the City Council; and does related work as required.
   (D)   Examples of duties. Assists City Clerk in the notification, collection, and recording of taxes, assessments, fees, and receipts such as property taxes, city stickers, occupational license, permits, utility receipts, and other receipts; accepts and processes occupational license, and miscellaneous bills; balances cash box and reconciles same with the City Clerk; serves as general typist for all departments as well as Mayor and Council; answers telephone and serves as receptionist; assumes the duties of City Clerk in his or her absence.
   (E)   Position qualifications.
      (1)   Training and experience. Graduation from high school or its equivalent, supplemented by one year of responsible experience in clerical work involving frequent work with public; or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform effectively the duties of the position.
      (2)   Special knowledge, skills, and abilities. Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment; working knowledge of the legal requirements relating to the keeping and preservation of Council minutes and records; knowledge of local government operations; typing ability; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, governmental officials, and the general public; ability to maintain important records efficiently and accurately and to prepare clear and concise reports; initiative and resourcefulness; integrity, tact, diplomacy, patience, thoroughness, neatness, accuracy.
