Hospitals more than two stories in height, and other Class I (institutional) buildings more than three stories in height, where persons suffering from mental or physical limitations because of health or age are harbored for medical or other care or treatment, shall have at least one passenger elevator. All buildings more than three stories in height, of Class B (business), Class I (institutional), where persons are detained for penal or correctional purposes, Class F (factory or industrial), or Class R (residential), occupancy, shall have at least one passenger or combination passenger and freight elevator. For hospitals, a stretcher elevator car floor shall not be less than thirty-five square feet in area and shall be not less than seven feet in one of its dimensions, and the doors to the shaft and car shall be not less than three feet, eight inches in width.
