(a) Unless greater separations are required by the Zoning Code or by other laws or ordinances and except as provided in subsection (b) hereof, buildings of Type 7 (unprotected metal) construction hereafter erected or converted to a new and different use shall be located as follows:
(1) Class R (residential) occupancy buildings shall be located not less than six feet from any other building or lot line other than a street line.
(2) Buildings, such as private garages, coops, etc., as accessory to a dwelling or apartment house, shall be located not less than six feet from any other building or lot line other than a street line.
(3) Class B (business) occupancy buildings shall be located not less than six feet from any other building or lot line other than a street line.
(4) Class I (institutional) occupancy buildings shall be located from any other building or lot line other than a street line a distance of not less than twenty feet for a one-story building and a distance of not less than thirty feet for a two-story building.
(5) Class A (place of assembly) occupancy buildings shall be located as follows:
A. Theaters and assembly halls: not less than thirty feet from any other building or lot line other than a street line.
B. Churches; club and lodge buildings: from other buildings and lot lines other than street lines, a distance of not less than twenty feet for one-story buildings and of not less than thirty feet for two-story buildings.
C. Minor places of assembly: not less than six feet from any other building or lot line other than a street line.
(6) Class S (storage) or F (factory and industrial) occupancy buildings shall be located as follows:
A. Buildings not more than one-story and not more than twenty feet high, used for other than Class H (hazardous) occupancy: not less than six feet from any other building or lot line other than a street line.
B. Buildings not more than one-story and not more than twenty feet high, used for Class H (hazardous) occupancy: not less than thirty feet from any other building, lot line or street line.
C. Buildings more than one story and more than twenty feet high, used for other than Class H (hazardous) occupancy: not less than thirty feet from any other building having an exposed wall with less than a two-hour fire-resistance rating or a lot line other than a street line.
D. Buildings one-story but more than twenty feet high used for Class H (hazardous) occupancy: not less than fifty feet from any other building, lot line or street line.
(7) Buildings used as a public garage shall be located as follows:
A. Buildings not more than one-story and not more than twenty feet high: not less than six feet from any other building or property line other than a street line.
B. Buildings two stories or more than twenty feet high: not less than six feet from any other building or lot line other than a street line.
(8) All other buildings of Type 7 (unprotected metal) construction not otherwise provided for in this Building and Housing Code shall be located not less than six feet from any other building or lot line other than a street line.
(b) Unless otherwise required by any other law or ordinance, buildings of Type 7 (unprotected metal) construction may be located nearer another building or lot line than is required in paragraphs (a)(4) through (7) hereof if the walls of such building which are less distant than the distances required in such subsections have a fire-resistance rating of not less than two hours, except that for Class H (hazardous) occupancies the walls shall have a fire-resistance rating of not less than three hours. In every case the walls shall have lateral support adequate to insure the stability of the same.
