1444.01 POSTING ALLOWABLE LOADS IN EXISTING BUILDINGS; EXCEPTIONS.
In every Class B (business), Class S (storage), Class I (industrial) or Class T (temporary and miscellaneous occupancy) building heretofore erected, in which heavy loads or concentrations occur, or machinery is introduced, the owner or occupant shall cause the load that each floor will safely sustain to be estimated by a registered architect or a registered engineer and filed with the Superintendent of Building and Zoning Inspection, and such estimated load shall be posted as provided for new buildings. However, this section shall not apply to manufacturing companies which maintain a permanent engineering department competent to design and to supervise the construction of the structural features of buildings and structures, when such department is responsible for the structural safety of the building in which the heavy loads or concentrations occur or the machinery is introduced.
