1442.08 INSPECTION PRIOR TO COVERING WORK; REINFORCEMENT OF CUT STRUCTURAL MEMBERS.
   (a)   In any new building or addition, immediately upon the completion of those portions of the installations which are thereafter to be concealed or covered, the contractor shall notify the Building and Zoning Inspection Division, giving the location of the work and stating that portions of the installations are ready for inspection. No person shall lath over, plaster or cover any work before such work has been inspected and the building permit card stamped approved. The authorized City Inspector shall have the right and authority to have removed all lath, plaster or other covering which may have been placed over such work before it has been inspected. The City shall make inspection within forty-eight hours after notice, excluding Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
   (b)   No structural member of a building shall be cut or deformed in any manner to facilitate the work, unless proper reinforcement of the cut member is provided, which reinforcement has been approved by the structural designer as restoring the member to its former load-carrying capacity. Any unauthorized reduction of the structural member shall be corrected by the contractor at his or her own expense.
