1442.03 REQUIRED DRAWINGS, PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS; CALCULATIONS.
   (a)   Whenever a proposed installation or alteration of any system subject to the provisions of this chapter involves passage of ducts through fire walls or required fire-resistant floors or partitions, or any other conditions which may affect the fire resistance or fire safety of a building, the application for a permit shall be accompanied by layout and detail drawings indicating the provisions to be made to maintain the required fire resistance of the building and to prevent the spread of smoke, fumes or gases in the event of fire.
   (b)   Plans and specifications shall show in sufficient detail all pertinent features and clearances of the parts of the system, including the form and dimensions of the building, or parts thereof, in which such fuel-burning equipment is to be used, the maximum quality of fuel to be burned per hour and the operating requirements of such equipment. The use to be made of such fuel-burning equipment shall also be stated.
   (c)   A registered State of Ohio professional mechanical engineer stamp on a completed set of heating or air conditioning plans and specifications shall be sufficient evidence that the design complies with accepted engineering practices.
   (d)   Calculations shall be submitted on all other plans and specifications covering newly designed systems or revised systems in which the capacity has been changed. The above regulations are required for any alternative or substitute system that is to be considered.
   (e)   The capacity of replacement equipment in existing systems which are not to be altered and have given satisfactory performance shall be determined by the total net installed load of the existing system and no heat loss calculation shall be required. The total net installed load and the size of the replacement equipment shall be submitted. Plans and specifications will not be required for the replacement of existing equipment of equal capacity.
