1436.16 AUTOMATIC ALARMS AND DETECTORS REQUIRED IN CERTAIN BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES.
   All new buildings or structures the construction of which commences after the date on which this Building and Housing Code becomes effective, which are seventy-five feet or less in height and in which sleeping accommodations are provided for the owners, users or occupants hereof, shall be provided with approved automatic alarms and detectors of the products of combustion, installed and maintained in accordance with the 1974 National Fire Protection Association Pamphlet No. 74, to provide level four protection. However, nothing in this section shall be construed to excuse the compliance with more stringent requirements which are imposed upon buildings or structures by other provisions of this Building and Housing Code or by provisions of any State Fire or Building Code.
