The Superintendent of Building and Zoning Inspection shall keep careful and comprehensive records of applications, permits and/or certificates issued, inspections made and reports rendered. He or she shall retain on file, if possible, all drawings submitted to him or her to obtain building permits, so long as any part of the building or structure for which the plan was submitted may be in existence, except that plans for private dwellings and minor buildings need not be kept on file more than three months after the final approval of the building.
