1422.06 DUTIES OF SUPERINTENDENT OF BUILDING AND ZONING INSPECTION.
   Except as otherwise required, the Superintendent of Building and Zoning Inspection or his or her duly authorized representative shall receive applications, issue permits and licenses and furnish the prescribed certificates as required by this Building and Housing Code, except as provided by the City Charter. He or she shall examine premises for which permits have been issued and shall make necessary inspections to see that the provisions of this Building and Housing Code and other pertinent laws and ordinances are complied with and that construction is prosecuted safely. He or she shall enforce all laws, ordinances and regulations relating to the construction, alteration, repair, removal, moving, demolition, equipment, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of buildings and structures, except as may be otherwise provided for. He or she shall, when requested by the Director of Public Service or Council, or when the interests of the City so require, make investigations in connection with matters referred to in this Building and Housing Code and render reports on the same. For the purpose of enforcing compliance with the provision of this Building and Housing Code and other pertinent laws and ordinances assigned to him or her for enforcement, he or she shall issue such notices or orders as may be necessary.
   Nothing contained in this Building and Housing Code shall exempt the Director of Public Service, the Chief of Police, the Fire Chief, the Director of the Department of Health, or any other officer or employee of the City, from his or her obligation of enforcing those provisions of this Building and Housing Code or any other law or ordinance which comes within his or her sphere of authority.
   The Superintendent of Building and Zoning Inspection shall also be the Zoning Administrator for the City and is hereby directed and authorized to see that the Zoning Code is complied with.
