(a) No person shall leave or deposit poison, poisoned food, or any substance containing poison, in any place where it may be found by any person or animal. However, this section does not apply to the use of poisonous substances with due and proper precaution for the extermination of rats or other rodents, nor to the proper use of sprays in the growing of fruits and vegetables.

(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree.
