No person shall board or alight from any moving vehicle or ride upon any portion thereof not designed or intended for the use of passengers when the vehicle is in motion, nor shall any operator knowingly permit the same to be done.
This section shall not apply to an employee engaged in the necessary discharge of a duty or riding within a truck body in space designed for merchandise.
