Subject to the approval of the Director of Public Safety, personal cars of Fire and Emergency Medical Services Division members may be classified as public safety vehicles at set forth in Section 402.32 of the Traffic Code, provided the provisions of Section 438.19 of the Traffic Code are observed and a record thereof given to the Fire Chief and the Director of Public Safety. The Director may determine the criteria necessary for approval of an automobile as a public safety vehicle.
