There shall be established and maintained on all property devoted to or open to the public use, one or more fire lane to provide ingress and egress of Fire Department vehicles, equipment and personnel. The said fire lanes shall be at least 12 feet in width and laid out for convenient access from the public thoroughfares and water supply to the building or buildings. The markings of said fire lanes and the posting of signs for said fire lanes and their maintenance shall be at the expense of the property owner or occupier. The plans for said fire lanes shall be approved by the Borough Council or its duly authorized agent, and any signs required to be erected shall also be approved by the Borough Council or its duly authorized enforcement agent.
