A. Effective May 1, 2000, all new construction projects which are subject to inspection and approval by the village, including commercial, industrial, and residential projects, shall install water and sewer meters.
1. All new single-family residences shall install one meter. The village shall supply the meter, and the property owner shall be responsible for installation of the meter.
2. All new duplex residential projects shall install one meter for each of the duplex's separate dwelling units. The village shall supply the meters, and the property owner shall be responsible for installation of the meters. Each meter will be billed separately.
3. All new multiple-family residential projects shall install one meter. The property owner shall purchase the meter from the village, and the property owner shall be responsible for installation of the meter.
4. Property owners of all new commercial and industrial projects shall purchase meters from the village, and the property owners shall be responsible for installation of the meters.
B. By December 31, 2001, the village will have a contractor install meters for all current residential users that have not previously had a meter installed. Residential users who refuse to permit the contractor to install the meter will have water service disconnected in ten (10) days. Water service will be reconnected only when the residential user permits the installation of the water meter, pays an installation fee of one hundred dollars ($100.00) and a reconnection fee of twenty five dollars ($25.00).
C. Effective July 1, 2000, all commercial and industrial users shall have meters installed. Failure to install a meter shall result in termination of water and sewer service within ten (10) days. If a user's service is disconnected, there shall be a reconnection fee of twenty five dollars ($25.00). (Ord. 2001-05, 3-7-2001)
