§ 32.31 TRAFFIC ENGINEER.
   (A)   The Office of City Traffic Engineer is hereby established. The city’s Traffic Engineer shall be a qualified engineer and shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council. He or she shall exercise the powers and duties as provided in this code and as directed by the Mayor and Council.
   (B)   It shall be the general duty of the city’s Traffic Engineer to determine the installation and proper timing and maintenance of traffic control devices, to conduct engineering analyses of traffic accidents and to devise remedial measures, to conduct engineering investigations of traffic conditions, to plan the operation of traffic on the streets and highways of the city and to cooperate with other city officials in the development of ways and means to improve traffic conditions, and to carry out the additional powers and duties as is necessary to comply with the provisions of this code. The city’s Traffic Engineer may be, but is not required to be, the same person as the City Engineer.
