§ 54.01 DEFINITIONS.
   The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning.
   BULKY TRASH. Trash or waste of a bulky nature and therefore not susceptible of being placed within approved receptacles.
   CITY DISPOSAL SYSTEM. A system of gathering and disposing of materials, defined in this section, from the city, but specifically exclusive of industrial and commercial enterprises. Home occupations and professional offices shall not be considered as industrial or commercial enterprises.
   GARBAGE. Animal, fruit, vegetable or other material that will or may decompose and become offensive or dangerous to health, but not including dead animals or manure.
   HOME OCCUPATION. Any occupation or activity carried on in a dwelling by a member of the immediate family residing therein, which use is clearly incidental and secondary to the use of the dwelling for dwelling purposes, and does not change the character thereof.
   HOUSEHOLD WASTE. Any solid waste, including garbage and trash, derived from households, including single and multiple residences, hotels and motels, bunkhouses, ranger stations, crew quarters, campgrounds, picnic grounds and day-use recreation areas, but shall not include yard waste.
   MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE. Household waste or the combination of household waste with industrial or commercial solid wastes.
   OCCUPIED CHARGING UNIT. Any occupied single-family dwelling or any unit being used for occupancy by 1 or more persons for living and cooking in a multiple dwelling or apartment. Each unit in a multi-family dwelling shall pay the monthly sanitation surcharge, including churches and professional offices in a residential zone. This definition shall not apply to those dwellings and units required by this chapter to utilize private sanitation disposal service, as set forth in § 54.04.
   PROFESSIONAL OFFICE. Those persons that are engaged in a pursuit or activity professionally, such as accountants, dentists, real estate offices, insurance offices, mortuaries, physicians, attorneys, osteopaths and chiropractors.
   SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY. A public or private site, location, tract of land, installation or building which has been used for the collection, source separation, storage, transportation, transfer, processing, treatment or disposal of solid waste, and shall include solid waste disposal areas and solid waste processing facilities.
   UNOCCUPIED CHARGING UNIT. Any unoccupied single-family dwelling or any unit ready for occupancy by 1 or more persons for living and cooking in a multiple-family dwelling or apartment. This includes unoccupied churches or professional offices in a residential zone.
   YARD WASTE. Accumulations of grass or shrubbery cuttings, leaves and other organic materials collected as a result of the care of lawns, shrubbery, vines and gardens.
