(A) All water meters shall be 1 of the following types:
(1) A meter installed in a pit;
(2) A meter installed in a meter tile; or
(3) A remote reader type meter installed in a building.
(B) Installation of any of the meters shall be in accordance with rules and regulations of the city.
(C) When an inside meter setting is used, the meter must be accessible for service and protected from freezing. All meters, regardless of the type of installation, shall be set in a horizontal position with the meter register on the top and with ample space allowed to permit the meter to be easily read or serviced by the city or its agents or its employees. The city or its agents, whenever it is inconvenient to make readings of any meter set in a meter pit or meter tile, or inside the building in the case of an inside type meter, is empowered to give the consumer 20 days’ notice in writing to reset the meter to a position meeting the approval of the city or its agents, and if the consumer refuses or neglects to do so within the 20-day period then the city or its agents shall reset it at the consumer’s expense.
