(A) (1) Every water service pipe shall be provided with a curbstop for each consumer, easily accessible, and so situated that the water can be conveniently shut off.
(2) Curbstops shall be of a pattern as shall be approved by the city.
(B) Unless otherwise permitted, curbstops shall be placed in the service pipe at a point near the property line and protected by a service box leading from the top of the curbstop to the surface, of suitable size to admit a curb key for turning on and off the stop, and with a cast iron cover having the letter “W” marked thereon, visible and even with the pavement or planking.
