10-2-7: FENCES:
No fence may be constructed in any use district except in accordance with the following regulations:
   (A)   No fence may be constructed, erected or maintained on any property owned by the village or dedicated to public use except for publicly owned fences constructed at the direction of the village board of trustees.
   (B)   No fence may be constructed, erected or maintained in any front yard in any R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, M-1, B-1or B2 district, which fence exceeds four feet (4') in height measured from the surface of the ground or which fence obstructs vision through its surface to an extent greater than twenty five percent (25%) of its total area.
   (C)   Except as provided in subsection (D) of this section, no fence may be constructed, created or maintained in any side yard or rear yard within an R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, M-1, B-1 or B2 district which exceeds six feet (6') in height.
   (D)   Fences which enclose public or institutional parks, playgrounds, schools or public landscaped areas within any use districts and fences located in I-1 or I-2 districts shall not exceed eight feet (8') in height measured from the surface of the ground.
   (E)   No fence which obstructs vision through its surface to an extent greater than twenty five percent (25%) of its total area shall be located in any district in such a manner that it obstructs the view of approaches to an intersection of one street with another street, a driveway or a sidewalk.
   (F)   No fence located within an R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, M-1, B-1 or B2 district shall contain barbed wire, electric current or charge of electricity.
   (G)   For purposes of this section, "fence" is defined as any structure whether comprised of living or nonliving material which forms a physical barrier to the passage of persons.  (Ord. 1040, 8-10-2020)
