8-1-6: PRIVATE CONSTRUCTION; REPORT:
When any person shall obtain permission to construct any sidewalk within the Village, as hereinbefore provided, he shall construct the same under the direction and supervision of the Street and Alley Committee, and according to the plans and specifications furnished him by the Clerk, and when such sidewalk is completed he shall apply to the Street and Alley Committee for their acceptance of the same, and if the Street and Alley Committee shall refuse to accept the same, he shall report to the Board of Trustees the amount of sidewalk so constructed, the material composing the same, and the manner in which it has been constructed, for their acceptance or rejection, and if the President and Board of Trustees refuse to accept the same, he shall proceed at once to rebuild it according to the plans and specifications furnished by the Clerk. If he shall refuse or neglect to rebuild such sidewalk as herein provided, and such sidewalk is in a dangerous condition or constructed contrary to any of the provisions of this Code relating to sidewalks, the Superintendent of Streets shall remove or rebuild the same as the President and Board of Trustees may direct.
