In order to qualify for membership in the North Pekin fire department, all persons shall be a resident of the village of North Pekin, or of the area of the map attached to the ordinance codified herein. This residency requirement applies to all members of the North Pekin fire department.
All officers of the North Pekin fire department must be a resident of the village of North Pekin. Notwithstanding the foregoing, however, if no qualified individuals reside within the village of North Pekin, an individual residing within the area of the map attached to the ordinance codified herein may be appointed as an officer of the North Pekin fire department, to any office except fire chief, upon approval of the fire department and the village board of trustees.
