In addition to the requirements listed above, all motorized bicycles must also meet basic equipment standards established by the Director of Highway Safety. These requirements include:
(a) A working muffler and exhaust system, with no cutouts or bypasses which allow excessive noise;
(b) A firmly attached seat for the operator. Top of seat must be at least twenty-five inches above the ground;
(c) At least one and no more than two headlights;
(d) A brake light;
(e) Handlebars must be equipped with safety grips, and must be positioned no higher than fifteen inches above the seat;
(f) A horn or other audible signalling device that can be heard at least 100 feet away. Sirens and whistles are not permitted;
(g) Mechanical turn signals are not required.
