The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to the emission of sound for the purpose of alerting persons to the existence of an emergency, or the emission of sound in the performance of emergency work.
When used in a residential district and only for emergency purposes, such as during a power outage, the sound produced by a generator shall not exceed 66 dB(A) operating at normal load when measured at the nearest point of a neighboring dwelling. Such generators shall be exercised no greater than weekly between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
