No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle on any designated fire lane that would prevent such fire lane from being immediately accessible to the Fire Department or in any other manner to deter or hinder the Fire Department from gaining immediate access to the fire lane. In addition to parking being prohibited on fire lanes, any obstructions or structures on fire lanes are illegal and subject to immediate removal by the City without notice.
1. The Fire Chief shall establish and designate public and private fire lanes as deemed necessary for the efficient and effective operation of fire vehicles, personnel, and apparatus, subject to approval of the City Administrator.
2. The owner of a property with a designated fire lane shall maintain any fire lane as required by the Fire Chief for the purpose of keeping the fire lane clearly marked and identifiable. Such marking, posting, and maintenance shall be at the owner's expense.
3. Fire lanes shall be marked by signs, red curbs, or roadway striping. The design, specifications and placement of markings shall be subject to approval of the Fire Chief.
4. Emergency vehicles parked on the established fire lanes shall be exempt from this section.
5. A written request to the Fire Chief for temporary parking on a fire lane shall be submitted for approval at least seven days from the requested time period. With prior approval of the Fire Chief and notice to the Police Chief, such vehicles shall be exempt from this section.
