An on-duty police officer operating a duly authorized Police Department bicycle, electric personal assistive device, or micromobility device may, when necessary, in the performance of his/her official duties, operate or park such bicycle, electric personal assistive device, or micromobility device contrary to the provisions of this Chapter. The foregoing provision shall not relieve the operator of an authorized bicycle, electric personal assistive device, or micromobility device of the duty of operating with due regard for the safety of all persons nor shall such provision protect the operator from the consequences of his/her reckless disregard for the safety of others.
