§ 33.05 AUXILIARY POLICE UNIT.
   (A)   There is hereby established, in accordance with R.C. § 737.161, an auxiliary police unit within the village.
   (B)   The auxiliary police unit created by division (A) of this section shall not exceed five members in number. All appointments to and removals from the auxiliary police unit shall be made by the Mayor. Applications for appointment to the auxiliary police unit shall be reviewed and approved by the Chief of Police and the Mayor. Any application by any person seeking appointment to the auxiliary police unit which is disapproved by the Chief of Police or the Mayor shall not be approved.
   (C)   In accordance with R.C. § 737.161, the Chief of Police shall be the commanding officer of the auxiliary police unit and shall have control of the assignment, training, stationing, and direction of the work of such unit, all subject to the general control and direction of the Mayor.
   (D)   Each auxiliary police unit officer shall have successfully completed the basic peace officer’s training program as prescribed by the Ohio Police Officers Training Council. The village will provide to such officers for both duty and annual qualifications ammunition. The applicants for the auxiliary police unit shall not be reimbursed by the village for basic training.
   (E)   Members of the auxiliary police unit shall be a minimum of 21 years of age and shall have all the powers to exercise all duties provided by law for protecting persons and property as set forth by the ordinances of the village and the laws of the state.
   (F)   The Mayor shall be the executive head of the auxiliary police unit and shall have the additional duty of obtaining the oath of each officer for his or her faithful performance of duties.
