(a) There is hereby created the position of a Code Enforcement Officer. The rate of pay shall be as provided by Council from time to time.

(b) Qualifications. The Code Enforcement Officer shall have considerable knowledge and ability to interpret the City Planning and Zoning Code, the City Building Code (specific to Part Thirteen - Title Three), and the BOCA National Property Maintenance Code; knowledge of the Ohio Basic Building Code; knowledge of City ordinances relating to property maintenance and/or health, safety and sanitation issues which may have been codified under the General Offenses section, the Housing section or Building Regulations section of the Codified Ordinances of the City; and knowledge of inspection techniques and public relations. Knowledge may be demonstrated through a combination of education and experience. The Code Enforcement Officer shall also have a valid Ohio driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
