4-5-7: DISCHARGE OF SEWAGE:
   A.   Prohibited Discharge Sites; Defective Systems; Environmental Accidents 1 : No person shall discharge or cause to be discharged untreated sewage, the effluent from any septic tank, disposal field or mechanical treatment plant or any industrial or business wastewater directly or indirectly to any stream, wetland, lake, pond, ditch, drainage system, drainage pipe, stormwater sewer, ground surface or abandoned well, or maintain or operate an individual sewage disposal system in such manner that it becomes offensive, dangerous or prejudicial to the public health. It shall be the responsibility of the property owner to clean up any damage done by environmental accidents. (1977 Code § 7-4-7)
   B.   Discharges To Treatment Works Or Sump Pits: All wastes from toilets, sinks, showers, bathing tubs, washing machines, dishwashers, laundry tubs and floor drains shall be directed into a wastewater treatment system approved by the Village. Only water from footing tiles, humidifiers, water softeners, sump pumps, curtain drains and storm lines shall be discharged into sump pits or separate trench. (1977 Code § 7-4-7; amd. 2004 Code)
   C.   Discharge Violations: When any person discharges sewage or other waste, whether treated or untreated, in violation of this code, the property owner will be notified that a violation exists and must take immediate corrective measures in compliance with this code. (1977 Code § 7-4-7)
