(A) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this chapter to the contrary, any inoperable abandoned motor vehicle which has been impounded pursuant to this chapter may be disposed of to a demolisher, for the sole purpose of having the vehicle wrecked, dismantled or demolished, without the title and the notification procedures otherwise required by this chapter. The demolisher, upon taking custody of such motor vehicle, shall notify the Department of this fact on forms provided by the Department.
(B) When a motor vehicle is disposed of as provided for in division (A) above, the authorized county official shall certify this fact to and claim reimbursement from the Department pursuant to VA Code § 46.2-1207.
