The Board shall administer the Police and Fire Departments of the city, except as provided by any statute or ordinance. The Board has exclusive control over all matters and property relating to the Police Department, Fire Department (including fire alarms and fire escapes), animal shelters and inspection of buildings. The Board shall have all responsibilities, duties and powers as set forth in I.C. § 36-9-6 et seq. and I.C. § 36-8-3-2, and as may be amended from time to time.
