§ 90.36 LOST OR STRAY ANIMALS.
Persons finding a stray animal are to notify the Noblesville Police Department or Hamilton County Humane Society within forty-eight (48) hours. At the discretion of the Noblesville Police Department or Humane Society, the animal may be kept by the finder and a found pet report left with the Noblesville Police Department or Humane Society, to enable the finder an opportunity to return the animal to its rightful owner. Upon demand by the Noblesville Police Department or Humane Society, any found animal will be surrendered to the Noblesville Police Department and held for a minimum of seven (7) days before a disposition is made. If after the seven (7) day period the animal remains unclaimed by its rightful owner, the animal becomes the property of the Noblesville Police Department or Humane Society. A person finding an animal is obligated to comply with all rules and regulations of this chapter pertaining to humane care and treatment of animals, while the animal is in custody awaiting return to its actual owner.
