§ 92.053 DEAD-END WATER MAINS.
   (A)   Six-inch dead-end private water mains that supply one fire hydrant shall not exceed 150 feet.
   (B)   An eight-inch dead-end private water main that supplies one fire hydrant shall not exceed 500 feet.
   (C)   A dead-end private water main that supplies a fire sprinkler system (and/or a standpipe system) and two or three fire hydrants shall have a minimum inner diameter of eight inches.
   (D)   A fire service private water main that supplies four or more fire hydrants shall be tapped off a distribution supply main in two separate areas (looped).
   (E)   A Class 1 structure with private water mains that has a required fire flow of 4,000 gallons per minute (GPM), regardless of the number of required fire hydrants, shall be designed as a loop system. When determining the required fire flow, the Fire Chief, or his or her designee, shall utilize the International Fire Code Appendix B, “Fire Flow Requirements for Buildings” as a guide.
