(A) For firefighters, see current, effective Meet and Confer agreement between the City of Noblesville and the members of the Noblesville Fire Department.
(B) City sworn police officers shall receive the following amounts of compensation for completing certain police-related education requirements, as follows:
(1) $750 additional pay per year for having acquired one-half the required hours for a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
(2) $1,500 additional pay per year for receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
(3) $2,000 additional pay per year for receiving a Master’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
(4) $3,000 additional pay per year for receiving a Doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education.
(C) Compensation will be paid to an individual qualifying hereunder for having acquired the highest degree as outlined in this section. No individual will receive cumulative incentive compensation for two or more degrees.
(D) Other education incentives for Police Department.
(1) City sworn police officers shall receive the following amounts of compensation for completing certain police- or fire-related education requirements which do not lead to a higher education degree as follows:
(a) $250 additional pay per year for having acquired 120 hours of continuing education within 36 months.
(b) $500 additional pay per year for having acquired 240 hours of continuing education within 60 months.
(c) $750 additional pay per year for having acquired 400 hours of continuing education within 72 months.
(2) If a police officer does not obtain the necessary hours to reach the next level of pay within one of the above described time periods, they shall retain the previous amount of additional pay they are entitled to receive.
(3) All city police officers receiving or hereafter becoming entitled to receive additional education compensation shall continue to receive said additional pay only if they completed 40 hours of continuing education in the previous year not including any year prior to 1987.
(4) With respect to the educational incentives for sworn police officers the Board of Public Works and Safety for the City of Noblesville shall determine which institutions are accredited, which courses at the various institutions are employment related and which types of training, schooling and continuing education qualify for incentives.
