§ 36.063 MEDICAL CARE FOR PERSONS CONFINED; COSTS.
   Whenever any person confined in the city jail is sick or injured, the City Jailer shall procure such medical services as may be immediately required, and promptly notify the public health authority charged by law with the duty of caring for such person under the circumstances of the case; and for this purpose the Chief of Police shall maintain at the telephone commonly used by the City Jailer a list of names and telephone numbers of those public health physicians and medical attendants who are subject to call under the provisions of this section. The cost of medicines and medical supplies furnished in each case shall be charged against the confined person for whose benefit such were procured and he or she shall pay such charge either in money or by work at the same rate required for the payment of fines and costs.
