§ 150.005 INTERNATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE.
   (A)   International Mechanical Code adopted by reference; title. Pursuant to the authority of Iowa Code § 380.10, the International Mechanical Code, 2015 Edition, except as hereinafter amended by this section, are hereby adopted by reference for the purpose of providing minimum provisions to safeguard life or limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating, licensing and controlling the design, installation, quality of materials, location and maintenance of all mechanical work. The provisions of said Code, except as amended herein, shall be controlling in all matters contemplated therein within the city. The provisions of this section shall be known as the “Mechanical Code”.

   (B)   Copies on file. An official copy of said Code, including amendments as adopted, is on file in the office of the Building Official.

   (C)   Available for public inspection. A copy of said Code, as amended, shall be kept available at the Building Official’s office for public inspection.

   (D)   License required. It shall be the duty of any person, before engaging in the mechanical trade, to be licensed by the State of Iowa Plumbing and Mechanical Systems Board as required by State of Iowa Code Ch. 105.
   (E)   Local amendments to the International Mechanical Code.
      (1)   Section 401.2 Ventilation required. Every occupied space shall be ventilated by mechanical means in accordance with section 403. Where the air infiltration rate in a dwelling is less than 5 air changes per hour when tested with a blower door at a pressure of .2 inches of water column in accordance with Section 402.4.1.2 of the Energy Conservation Code, the dwelling shall be ventilated by mechanical means in accordance with Section 403.
      (2)   Section 603.1. Insert the following language at the end of the code section: Air plenums and ducts located in floor and wall cavities shall be separated from unconditioned space by construction with insulation to meet energy code requirements. These areas include but are not limited to exterior walls, cantilevered floors, and floors above garages.
      (3)   Section 1107.5.4. Insert the following language at the end of the code section: All press connect fittings must be listed and labeled for refrigerant piping and installed per manufacturer's instructions.
