2.16 STREET LIGHTING SYSTEM.
A.   The petitioner shall provide the subdivision with a street lighting system. The quantity, type, and location of streetlights will be determined by the New Palestine Town Council. The petitioner shall provide the subdivision with streetlights at street intersections and a spacing between fixtures not to exceed 200 feet. All streetlights shall have a minimum mounting height of 15 feet and use a 150 watt high pressure sodium lamp. All streetlights shall be approved by the Town Council.
B.   Round Tapered Direct Burial Street Light Pole Specifications.
   1.   General Description - Fiberglass lighting pole to be black, round, hollow and of uniform taper along its length. The butt end of the embedded-type poles will be enlarged and of a shape so as to increase resistance (anti-lift). The pole shall be non-conductive and chemically inert.
   2.   Installation Data:
      a.   Direct embedded poles, 19 feet (minimum) in length shall set to a depth of 4 feet in concrete or crushed stone compacted in 6 inch lifts. The top of the pole shall be set at 15 feet above finished grade.
      b.   The pole shall be set plumb. The contractor guarantees that the setting shall remain plumb for a period of at least three (3) years from the date of installation.
   3.   Pole Shaft Construction.
      a.   The pole shall be constructed from continuous fiberglass filaments combined with thermosetting polyester resin.
      b.   The pole shall have a minimum wall thickness of 3/32 inches. The pole shall have a tapered wall increasing in thickness from the top to base in proportion to the load and ground line moment requirements. The pole shall be reinforced in areas of handholes and special hardware attachments.
      c.   The pole shall be designed with a minimum factor of safety of 2 and have no more than 10% deflection at full wind loading.
   4.   Pole Top.
      a.   A steel tenon shall be firmly bonded to the pole for mounting a post top luminaire (See Detail 422-01). The tenon shall be coated with a matching urethane finish.
   5.   Handhole.
      a.   The handhole shall be 2 ½ in. x 5 in. oval, located 18 inches above grade. The cover shall be non-corrosive metal painted to match the pole and secured with a stainless steel, tamper-proof locking screw.
   6.   Wire Entrance.
      a.   The pole shall have a wire entrance hole of 2 in. x 5 in. located 24 in. below grade.
      b.   Finish.
      c.   The surface of the pole shall be uniform and consistent for the entire length of the pole.
      d.   The resin shall contain colored pigment to match the finish coat of the pole. Solid coloration shall be throughout the entire wall thickness of the pole.
      e.   The finish coating shall be a pigmented urethane finish capable of withstanding exposure to ultraviolet, chemicals, and extreme weather conditions.
      f.   The surface coating shall be a minimum dry film thickness of 1 ½ mils.
