It is unlawful to harbor and/or own an exotic, dangerous or vicious animal as a “pet”. An exotic, dangerous or vicious animal is any animal which is of a wild or predatory nature, and which because of its size, vicious nature, or other characteristics would constitute an unreasonable danger to human life or property.
Provided, however, all persons who possessed an exotic, dangerous or vicious animal prior to the effective date of this section will be allowed to keep the animals if such persons are granted a personal possession permit and comply with the requirements of the law.
