It shall be unlawful for any person, in any unlawful manner, to set at liberty, rescue or attempt to set at liberty or rescue, any prisoner from any officer or employee of the city, having legal custody of the prisoner, or from the municipal jail or other place of confinement, or to assist the prisoner in any manner to escape from the prison or custody, or to give the prisoner any weapon or object which might be used as a weapon or instrument to assist him or her in escape, or to give the prisoner any alcoholic beverages, narcotics or other controlled dangerous substances.
