246.04 EMPLOYMENT.
   (a)   Fitness for Duty. The City reserves the right to require an employee to participate in a health examination to determine the employee's fitness to perform his or her essential job functions, or at the time of employment offer, or at any time during employment the supervisor or City Manager deems necessary. All such health exams shall be paid for by the City.
   (b)   General Driving Rules and Regulations. The City has established general driving rules and regulations, included here as Appendix B. All employees who operate either City owned, or personal vehicles during the course of performing work for the City shall familiarize themselves with this policy.
   (c)   Training.
      (1)   To promote both effectiveness and coordination, the City may require "cross-training" of employees. In addition to having learned to competently perform specified duties, employees are to familiarize themselves with other City activities, division, and departments.
      (2)   The City will pay the cost of obtaining all required state licenses and renewals and required CDL endorsements, which are required by the City or any applicable State of Ohio agency.
   (d)   Residency. At this time, no residency requirement exists for employees of the City.
   (e)   City Employees on City Fire Division. City employees who are members of the New Carlisle fire division may respond to fire calls on the suppression side under the following conditions:
      (1)   The call must be for a working fire.
      (2)   The employee's supervisor must determine that there is no pressing need for the employee to remain at work.
      (3)   The employee will be compensated at his or her normal rate during the regular work day. No overtime will be paid. At the conclusion of the fire, the employee will return to work, unless the normal day has ended. At the end of the day, if the fire continues, the employee will revert to fire division pay. While the employee is receiving regular pay, fire division pay will not be received.
      (4)   Any employee who is on any kind of work restriction (e.g. light duty) will not be permitted to respond to any fire call.
