(a) The City of New Carlisle currently has in place a street repair priority list. This is a list of every street in the City, its condition (excellent, fair, poor, or critical), type of repair needed (reconstruct, resurface, or surface treat), the type of street it is (local access, State highway, primary or secondary thoroughfare) and possible funding sources. The City Administration reviews this list annually and makes recommendations to Council for updates to the list.
(b) It is the policy of the City to upgrade all sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and handicap accessible ramps, when feasible, during any street construction/reconstruction projects. Working with the street priority list, the City Administration, with the help of the City Street Department, tracks the condition of sidewalks and curbs within the City.
(c) Further, it is the policy of the City to establish a standard curb and gutter design. In the case of new construction, the curb and gutter design below will be the standard. In the case of reconstruction or partial reconstruction, it will be at the discretion of the Public Service Director whether the standard curb design should be used or whether an alternative design will be used to allow consistency with any existing curb and gutter.
