(A) All footings shall bear on undisturbed soil. Where soil conditions prevent short-cut trenches for footings, side forms shall be used.
(B) The minimum dimensions of footings shall be as follows.
(1) Under foundation walls of 1-story frame dwellings containing no basement: thickness 6 inches; projection 3 inches on each side of wall.
(2) Under foundation walls of all other frame dwellings and 1-story masonry dwellings: thickness 7 inches; projection 4 inches on each side of wall.
(3) Under foundation walls of masonry dwellings more than 1 story in height: thickness 12 inches; projection 6 inches each side.
(4) Under masonry piers: thickness 12 inches; projection each side 6 inches, area 4 square feet.
(5) Under posts and columns: thickness 12 inches, size 2 x 2 feet.
(6) Under chimneys for 1-story dwelling: thickness 8 inches; projection on all sides 4 inches.
(7) Under chimneys for dwellings more than 1 story: thickness 12 inches; projection all sides 6 inches.
