Pursuant to S.C. Code § 6-29-320, there is hereby established a Joint Planning Commission to serve Newberry County, and the Municipalities of Prosperity, Whitmire, Little Mountain, Pomaria, Silverstreet, and Peak. The Joint Planning Commission shall be known and may be cited as The Newberry Joint Planning Commission, hereinafter cited as the Commission. The Commission shall perform all planning functions in the area of jurisdiction of Newberry County and the member municipalities. The Commission shall prepare and from time to time revise a Comprehensive Plan for the member jurisdictions in conformity with the requirements of the Comprehensive Planning Enabling Act of 1994. The Commission shall carry out the other duties as prescribed by the Comprehensive Planning Act and as may be assigned.
